RNA-Interference-Mediated Aphid Control in Crop Plants: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Crop plants suffer severe yield losses due to the significant damages caused by aphids. RNA interference (RNAi) technology is a versatile and environmentally friendly method for pest management in crop protection. Transgenic expressing siRNA/dsRNA non-transformative methods such as spraying, microinjection, feeding, nanocarrier-delivery-mediated RNAi approach have been successfully applied agricultural insect management. In this review, we summarize application of host-induced gene silencing (HIGS)-mediated RNAi, spray-induced (SIGS)-mediated other delivery-method-mediated aphid control. We further discuss challenges propose potential solutions enhance efficiency.

RNA Interference (RNAi) as a Potential Tool for Control of Mycotoxin Contamination in Crop Plants: Concepts and Considerations
Mycotoxin contamination in food and feed crops is a major concern worldwide. Fungal pathogens of the genera Aspergillus. Fusarium, and Penicillium are a major threat to food and feed crops due to production of mycotoxins such as aflatoxins, 4-deoxynivalenol, patulin, and numerous other toxic secondary metabolites that substantially reduce the value of the crop. While host resistance genes are f...

Leaf senescence constitutes the last stage of leaf development in plants and proceeds through a highly regulated program in order to redistribution of micro- and macro-nutrients from the senescing leaves to the developing/growing plant organs. Initiation and progression of leaf senescence is accompanied by massive sequential alterations at various levels of leaf biology including leaf morpholog...
متن کاملEnhancement of RNA Interference Effect in P19 EC Cells by an RNA-dependent RNA Polymerase
Background: RNA interference (RNAi) is a phenomenon uses double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) to specifically inhibit gene expression. The non-specific silencing caused by interferon response to dsRNA in mammalian cells limits the potential of utilizing RNAi to study gene function. Duplexes of 21-nucleotide short interfering dsRNA (siRNA) inhibit gene expression by RNAi. In some organisms, siRNA can als...

To study gene function, generation of loss-of-function mutants by RNA interference (RNAi) approaches and T-DNA insertional mutagenesis are widely used in plant science and have proven to be very successful in determining gene functions. AGAMOUS-LIKE18 (AGL18) is a MADS-box gene that is expressed during Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) pollen development (Alvarez-Buylla et al., 2000; Pina et a...
